Leading by doing

What separates strong leaders is less IQ or skill than emotional intelligence, and the safety they create for others to speak.

What Makes a Leader?

Emotional intelligence is the threshold that separates star leaders from the rest, and it can be learned.

  • Five components: self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and social skill.
  • The first three are about managing yourself. The last two are about managing relationships.
  • It can be learned, but slowly, through practice and feedback, not a seminar.
